Joel had just ducked down into cover, and heard a crash. His ears perked up, alarmed "What the hell..." he muttered. He ran in the direction of the crash until he saw two figures. Cursing, he drew his stolen rifle and advanced on the figures. As he got closer, he realized that it was Hardy and Vasiliev. Relived, he lowered his rifle and ran to the fallen CO. He turned to Hardy "Can he hear me? Is he going to make it?"

"Sir?!" she fired a tri-burst over the wall at some of the scalies "How in the hell--?!" She chanced a glance away from the enemies to her CO *Pakpakpak!* a few shots spattered the roofline and forced her to stay down, relying on the others in her squad to inform her of his condition "How is he?!" She fired a few random shots over the edge forcing the scalies below to take cover as well.

"He's weak but stable" said Hardy, as he pulled off Vasiliev's jacket and cut away his shirt. He poured water from his canteen over the entry and exit wounds, once they were reasonably clean he repeated the dousing with antiseptic, drawing a stream of muttered curses from his C.O.
He packed gauze onto both wounds and bound the dressings in place with adhesive bandages. The result was a far cry from the crisp, white bandages in the diagram in his field manual. But it would stop him from losing more blood.
He dashed back to the edge of the roof, picked up his crossbow and joined the fight once more.

Flynn listened to vasiliev's landing and subsequent attention from hardy's rather shaky healing hands whilst keeping the scalies pushed up the street as much as he could.

"I don't want to butt in but we're still hot down there!" he yelled.

He focused on keeping Irah out of trouble with some suppersion fire.

" Irah is still down there and Sandra and I can't cover him all the way up here ourselves. "

Dear Lambda. I've noticed you've finally reached Hudson Bay.

How was your flight?

This is Captain Christopher Hall.
I can see your officer right now. I apologize for my soldier's... rash actions.
He isn't used to working with people outside of his squad.

We're currently working on the same thing you are. We're going to disable the SAM in the Residential district, then we will meet you at the location of the third.
I assumed you would like a little help, so I had posted my men in hopes the could keep themselves incognito.

Apparently not.

Therefore, I have been forced to reveal ourselves before I wished to, but that's irreversible now.
My soldiers will cover you. If necessary, they have been instructed to assist you directly.

Let's see what you can do, shall we?

This is Christopher Hall,
Captain of Beta Squadron,
Signing out.

The buzzing in Vasiliev's radio was loud after the message finished. He got up and turned the volume down on his radio. He looked at the patch his soldier had made, and smiled a little.

The he looked back up to the window he had been thrown from to see a rifle barrel extended out of it.
The gun fired, and the bullet went through a scalie's skull.

And kept going.

And ricocheted off of a wall through another reptile's head, then continued into another's, before ricocheting a final time into a fourth's head.

"How the fuck is that possible?" Vasiliev mused to himself.

(Check the post I made on the previous page. I fixed it.)

Joel stared at the shot in awe. He only heard one shot, but counted at least three drops. "Jesus Christ, making us look bad..." He took another drag on his cigar before turning to his CO "Sir, new orders?"

"Greeeeeaaat" he said as he shot back at the last few scalies left with the MG he had stolen "We got feckin' BETA on our side now" he said with a distinctive bad tone to it

BETA wasn't precisely known to be a bad squad, but they weren't precisely known to be nice and teamworking people either...most of the time in fact other squads would have a harder time working with them, and considering the troubles Lambda had after the first few minutes into the mission, thigns just went from "at the gates of hell" to "shaking hands with the god-damn devil"

he took cover and looked over at the window from where Vasiliev had been thrown out of "Next time, be a bit more gentle will ya?" he said as he reloaded the MG with the close by box the scalies had left for it's ammo

"Beta, huh?" Joel sighed as he took a deep drag. "Prissy, judgmental bastards... We probably would have been just fine without them!" He stooped down and picked up five magazines, slipping them into the pouches on his vest. "Damn, how does the close quarter specialist end up running out of grenades?" He muttered. He scanned the ground, then saw a shotgun on the floor "Aw, hell yeah!" he said as he picked it up "Still full!"

Hardy watched the display of sniping with professional admiration, which turned to green eyed envy, then, once he realised just how far up shit creek they were drifting, turned to a healthy dose of indignant anger.
It was time to show what the target practice squad was capable of.
He saw his target further down the street, one of the last reptiles was making a dash across the street. A fast moving target at nearly 100 metres, it would be a tricky shot with a rifle, never mind a crossbow. He didn't have time to think about the details, he aimed and fired. The reptile fell, clutching at his face, the fletchings of the bolt visible between his fingers.

Joel was doing a quick house sweep for more ammo, when he heard a rustling behind one of the doors. He grinned, then smashed the door down. Inside was a squad of six scalies, huddled against the wall, obviously trying to avoid the fighting. He grinned and took a pull on his cigar, then raised his rifle. "You poor bastards picked the wrong place to hide." The scalies panicked and stuck their hands in the air, too nervous to even speak. "Truth is, I don't give a fuck if you washed for supper." He switched the safety to full auto, then pulled the trigger, spraying them all down with a hail of bullets. The blood splattered everywhere, painting the walls and splashing on the gun. He fired the rifle dry. He then grinned and piled the bodies in a corner, checking each for ammo. All in all, he got twelve additional clips, and thirty-five shells. He grinned again, then walked outside and closed the door. "I've taken the first step." he said, chuckling "Maybe one day you can forgive me, for not protecting you..." He walked off to rejoin the rest of the squad.

"NOVICES." The behemoth said.
"Cristof, I know you want to fight but-" The sniper was cut off by the buzzing of his comm radio.
"YOU IDIOTS!" the voice on the other side yelled, "I TOLD YOU TO KEEPHIDDENANDHELPONLYIFTHEYNEEDEDIT!!!"
"Hi Captain," the sniper said.
"Skitter. Get Cristof and Nick down there on the battlefield. ALL HELL IS ABOUT TO BREAK LOOSE. You keep sniping. Lambda isn't going to survive without your help."
"FINALLY!" Cristof cried.
"Orright then," Nick, the third man, said as he loaded his pistol, "Let's whup some arse."

***

Vasiliev fired a single shell from his sidearm in the face of one of the scalies, after climbing down from the roof using a ladder on the side of a building, when suddenly the earth shook. When Nikolai turned around, he saw that the giant man had jumped down from the second floor window and landed in the street, apparently unharmed. He wore a huge military police vest and huge army regulation pants, and his entire body was covered by gauze bandage, with the exception of his right eye.

"I AM THE INSTRUMENT OF YOUR DESTRUCTION," he bellowed at the top of his lungs, "PREPARE YOURSELF."

He was carrying a minigun, a pistol large enough to fire artillery shells, and... a jackhammer on his back. He grabbed the minigun and revved it.

Then he fired into a building. A surprise came when Nikolai discovered that the gun fired shotgun shells. The three scalies in the building he fired into were turned to a meaty soup after a couple seconds of fire. The man took the recoil from the gun as if he was firing a pistol.

"Damn!" Nikolai mused to himself, "Where the f*** did Beta pick this guy up?"

Flynn saw the bandaged behemoth land in the street and make stew of the next buildings inhabitants.

"Who the Hell is he?!"

he loaded a grenade and blasted a pair of scalies behind some cover further up the street before turning his attention to the one man wrecking crew below him.

"I need to find out what these psychos are dong" he thought.

He opened his HUD to the squad radio interface and scanned for channels which would still be in use while his scrambler was running.

"If they can talk to each other they must be using one of our frequencies" the thought, "So let's find out what that big guy's orders are."

While he waited for his radio to tune in he reloaded and continued to pick off any scalies stupid enough to break cover.
May you live an interesting life.

Joel's eyes opened wide when he saw the gigantic man. He looked closely at him, saw his CO, and couldn't decide if he was friend or foe. "Jesus Christ, is that a jackhammer?" he said, his voice a little higher pitched than normal. "Well, I can't just leave him alone with Vasiliev... Damn it." He began to creep up to get a closer view and to try and pick up some of the conversation.

Flynn continued to watch the scene playing out below him. Between the sniper with improbable aiming ability and the walking artilllery base screaming from the street below he was beginning to feel outdone. He gave up on providing that beast with any conventional cover as his services were clearly not required upfront. He paused to reload and ran to the other end of the rooftop to see a small enemy fireteam moving up an alley behind Vasiliev.

He screamed into his radio "VASILIEV! WATCH YOUR SIX!" as he opened fire, scoring a headshot on the unfortunate reptile taking point on the alley.
May you live an interesting life.

Upon hearing Flynn's warning over his radio Hardy turned towards the new crowd of enemies, dropped his crossbow and unloaded his sidearm into the group. he reloaded his bow and continued to pick off the assailants.
