I usually pass it off by thinking "Poor them... They must of not have had a good education". While this is false information, it is good to think about something like this to help pass off the angry or annoyance, so long as you don't blurt it out at them or respond with something similar.

This is from the first furry related video I saw. They were talking about a furry convention and the person said "they're a bunch of freaks that dress up in animal costumes and have sex at the end of the night, it's a fetish thing"

That is the dumbest thing I've heard.
And yes, don't let it get to you. I deal with this kind of stuff all the time because of my hair color, these people just use what's different from them as a way to insult other people, it's pathetic.

I actually found out that there are people who simply dont care that your a fur. I was in a gmod server the other day and with the rope tool I wrote FURRIES right in the middle of the map every one in the server saw it and never thought twice about it even when I admited to writing it.
