The sudden *Crack* sounding below Alex made him freeze in his tracks, watching the crack split the wood he was standing on. he eased to the side and continued, teh *creaking* of the boards making him flinch with every step, until finally his foot landed gingerly with a *thud* he sighed a relieved breath. Wait...thud? he pressed his foot back down around him, finding the hollow spot again. a hidden compartment in the floor. "Now that's what I'm talking about..." he whispered to himself, pulling a big knife from his boot. he drew a clawtip along the edge, the scraping sound similar to metal on metal. he jammed the tip of the blade into the crack he'd made when he'd stepped on it. another crack freed up one of the halves, at least enough that he could get his claws dug into the wood and pried it free. from there is was just a matter of pulling the boards up. a couple boards later, it was clear a steel box had been sitting beneath the floor. a short, wide box, seemingly designed to hold maybe a series of operations data in it. he pulled it out and checked around in the rest of the cavity finding it empty "Damn...looks like gotta do this the hard way" he grinned as he jammed the knife into the lock and twisted the hardened blade. the old rusty lock didn't stand a chance, and broke without much effort at all....much to Alex's dissappointment. "Well...let's see what we've got in here then..." he popped the lid open to find a folder and a small metal case, about the size of a a few index cards that had a hinge like that of a cigar case. he popped it open and found three SD cards nestled neatly into it, no marks or indications as to what was on them or what they had been for. he'd have to plug them into his laptop later on, they weren't the priority for the moment, so he tucked them into a pocket deep inside his jacket for later. now he turned his attention to the green folder. a stamp on it had a government symbol with a 'TOP SECRET' stamp over top of it. he slid his knifes tip through the red seal tape that held the folder shut, and stuck the blade back in his boot before thumbing through the folder. "Helllooooo...what have we here..." he smiled. in the dark only bits and pieces of what the papers were saying was clear, but it was more than enough. he closed the folder, and pulled his laptop from his bag. while he had no intent of using it, it would make a good place to store such documents. he opened the lid, and set the folder between the keyboard and the screen, shutting it and gently putting it back in his bag. he stood back up, glancing around the room, was it possible this wasn't the only hiding spot? he sighed and moved to the nearest picture frame hanging on the wall, tossing it aside in hopes he might find a hidden safe. nothing. he sighed again and looked around the room at the other pictures hanging around the room. "This is gonna be a looooooong night..."
