"This is heavy." the fox mused to himself as he gingerly stepped up onto the pad of light that floated before him. His foot met resistance and after a deep breath, Kazzra lifted himself up, closing his eyes and preparing to fall, but he didn't. He opened his crimson eyes slowly and tapped his foot against the light pad, watching the light pulsate as it adjusted to make up for the varying weights on it. He'd been working at this all day, falling on his tail when the sun had vanished behind a storm cloud. Now he was under a street lamp in the city park, seeing if it worked and much to his delight, it did. He still didn't trust it fully, arms out to either side to keep his balance if something went wrong, but so far, it truly seemed like he controlled it. Focusing, he took one tentative step forward, moving his foot a little beyond the light path and watched in amazement as the pad shifted to catch his foot as it fell through the air, landing on it with a strange jingle that made a sound like a note from a melody of ghosts, haunting and yet beautiful.
Kazzra walked himself in a slow circle, musing on his first encounter with this power... which had involved running into a barricade made of light during a particularly bad corner on his dirt bike. In retrospect, he supposed it was better than running into a cluster of propane tanks near a construction site. At first, the vulpine had written it off as some strange coincidence, but then the news had been nothing but stories of 'supers' doing some crazy stuff and curiosity had gotten the better of him, leading to first experiment of 'walking' about ten feet over a skateboarding pit and his first fall when the sun went away, which lead him to the conclusion that it was indeed light.
Now feeling stable, the vulpine eyed the edge of the light where the darkness started to take over. Moving to the very edge of the light, Kazzra leaned a foot out and watched as the concentrated light moved to catch him... then started to fade. He quickly stepped back into the light, sighing. So I need continuous light... oh well, always come prepared. He smiled to himself as he pulled a flashlight from his pocket, flicking it on and holding the light out in front of him, jumping to a new platform of light where the flashlight illuminated. It held as he pointed the light, but started to fade as he pointed to a new spot. Moving quickly, he started to point up slowly, rising into the sky, soon high over the trees and running forward into the city, praying no one happened to look up, though he was sure the strange jingle his light pads made on contact were bound to draw attention from somewhere.
For now though, he was having fun.
