Planeshift Chaos OOC (Open for new characters)

10/04/12
When my sensors picked up abnormal readings of a possible rift, I was excited and scared, and I can admit I was more scared. I couldn't control it, and I couldn't tell what was causing it. I am working on isolating one of the locations near by my lab. After I showed my readings to the authorities, they did let me close off the section of an abandoned air force base, just so they could humor me later. But I need to figure out what is going on. Until then, I'm just going to be watching this closely.

10/06/12
A crack in the air occrued today, and something amazing happened. A human appeared through it. A human, I thought they were only a myth. He even interracted with me.

Human: Ho there wolf man!
Me: Uh, hello!
Human: I'm knight Redcliff of Baulders Gate.
Me: Baulder's Gate? Where's that?
Human: Why in Faerun, and what realm is this you call?
Me: Earth, you are in San Fancisco at Alameda Air Force Base, though this field has been abandoned
I assumed by now that we shared the same language.
Human: Ah, you my flying soldiers?
Me: Exactly
His face turned serious by now, I grew worried that he had an explaination
Human: My wizards are telling me that great splits in our realm have been occurring. They are all saying that they are leading to this realm.
Me: Wait, all over your realm?
The human nods
Human: I've been permitted to warn you that great evils are going to invade your world.

Just as he gave me that warning, one of my assistants ran to me.
Assistant Preachor: Andrews, I'm sorry to interrupt, but I'm getting reports of zombies, strange beings, and even dragons appearing. They are tearing the world apart.
Me: This can't be.
Redcliff: So it has begun...

1/14/14
The world has been shot to hell almost, the base has been reactivated for civilian use. I've been seeing refugees come to San Francisco from all over the world. Thankfully, the wizards of Baulder's Gate have used the untapped energy that Earth provided to shield San Francisco from any invasion and even natural disasters. Elsewhere, its a different story. But now, even the races of Faerun are growing accustomed to the advanced weapons we have now, mainly in firearms. But only rogue groups of bandits, and cults are part of our worries, its the magic that we are not prepared for. Though some of us furs are grasping the concepts and are being taught, most of us are only getting used to this.
A Dwarf named Battlehammer came to me and proposed that we should figure out how to end this crisis. I set out word to find anyone interested from either realm. I can only pray that we figure out what is happening. Until then, as some of the knights say, "May Bahamut help us save this land."

Planescape: Torment is the only D&D video game that I actually enjoyed (and pretty much spent an entire month of non-stop playing to beat.) I think I'm partial to bringing my favorite floating skull into this world.

Firstly, is this all you want for skills? Because as a 'Smoothtalker' you definatly can put more skills that have to do with charisma up here. But I rarely see a charisma based character.

And is that all you want for weapons and equipment, your character had a year to acquire equipment from the D&D realms along with other sources around the world. But if you don't want anything else, don't worry you'll get the chance to pick up more awesome items along the way.

The only reason I didn't use Kevin Fernandaz is because I wanted to try something new.

Name: Cayden

Sex: Male

Race/Species: Gnoll

Age: 7(physically appears to be in his early 20's)

Specialty: Assassin

Skills: As an infiltrator, Cayden is stealthy, agile and perceptive; since his escape from the pits, scavenging for meals and supplies has granted him some thievery skill; and his overall survival throughout his life has depended on his ability to endure harsh environments.

Background: Taken as a pup well before the cataclysm began, Cayden grew up as a slave to the gladiator pits of Faerun, where he was known as "Ironfang". After years of being forced to fight for his life, Cayden began praying for vengeance on his captors. The dark powers of the Shadowfell heard his pleas and responded, granting him the shadow power of an assassin in exchange for a piece of his soul, but after Cayden took his vengeance and made his escape, he suddenly realized that he had no idea what to do next. Fighting was all he knew, and now there was no-one to fight.

It was only by turning his mind inward that he survived, drawing on his gnoll instincts to hunt and scavenge for meals; this continued until he came across a caravan heading to Balder's Gate, that needed a fresh guard to replace one that had already been slain along the way. Cayden accepted the job, and when Balder's Gate proved more accepting of gnolls than most other places, he decided to stay and make his living there.

When the rifts appeared, he crossed over into San Francisco; since then, he has used his skills and shadow powers to protect himself and others who have come, be they from Earth or Faerun, with the same fierce loyalty he would have defending his own pack.

Weapons: In melee combat, readily wields a longsword that was scavenged from a slain guard in the midst of his escape from the pit; carries a pistol for ranged attacks, but doesn't often use it due to limited ammunition; his shadow power also allows him to create small throwing blades of condensed darkness.

Equipment: The money that Cayden earned from his job as a caravan guard allowed him to buy a suit of leather armor. Since crossing over to San Fransisco, he has also managed through various means to procure simple supplies; food, clothing... whatever he happened to need at the time. (What those needs are would depend on how well the refugees in San Fran are cared for.)

Abilities: Cayden can wield his assassin's shadow magic in many different ways, in or out of combat. To aid in his hunting and infiltration, he has a well-developed sense of smell. And like all gnolls, Cayden has an inherent measure of latent talent for intimidation.

Wow, getting a nice diverse character group. Anon, I love the fact that we get a floating skull. Aeris, I like the animated mannequin. And lastly, wolf, very good background, the Gnoll will have a good roll. I'll wait until Monday or Tuesday to start the IC.

I'm in the process of writing up some NPC roles that will be in play and the plot line is becoming established. Now, in this there will be some combat moments, and then some interesting non combat encounters.

Name: Kaegro
Sex: Male
Race/Species: Undead Dragon (Smaller, humanoid class.)
Age: 30 (Aging has stopped)
Specialty: Heavy weapons
Skills: Regeneration, hardiness, limited flight, bending of rift energies
Background: Before the shift, he was a ferocious dragon, dedicating his life to protecting the world from all strange energies and creatures. Many of these powers and entities he banished, but others he absorbed. When the rift started to appear, he flew over with specialized equipment to try to close it before it could cause serious damage. Unfortunately for him, the equipment acted as a conductor for the power of the rift. He was dragged through, and the sheer trauma from the experience killed him. The strength of the ordeal, however, forced his soul back into his body, and infused it with great energy at the cost of some of his mind. He remembers nothing of his past, and now he roams around San Fransisco, using his rotting body to protect the people of his new realm.
Weapons: Various assault rifles, machine guns, and rockets that he scavenges. Prefers his ancient claymore, as he can direct energy best through it.
Equipment: He wears sturdy plate mail beneath a dark black robe that he uses to conceal his figure, to avoid frightening the people.
Abilities: His greatest ability is to absorb many different kinds of energy (His favored type on Earth being electricity.)

I do hope I'm not too late to join this...
