Gordan rubbed his head, still a bit dazed from the fight. Once again, he had passed out and now he felt like he was letting the team down. None of the others were passing out. They were still standing when the fight ended. He began to get angry. He was being careless. He should control his power, not expend himself over the limit. Hell, the oppenent he had knocked down the with the fireball had gotten up after he had passed out. Lucky for him the group dispatched the foe quickly.

He felt weak. How could he be of any use to the group? He was letting his team down. He drifted off into his own little world as the rest of the team talked, staring at his hourglasses.

Gaz gave them an embarrassed look, but quickly replaced it with his usual look of annoyance. "They weren't so tough." He nonchalantly noted. A sly smile formed on Blue's face.

"Not so tough, huh?" She barked back. Blue prepared a series of verbal insults, but Gaz waved her off and ignored her challenge. Jelly, being his jolly old self welcomed the annoyed team-member back with bone-crunching arms. Blue quickly ushered the group out of the ring before the next fight happened.

Ben said nothing further to Gaz. Despite being the peace keeper he felt that Gaz had abandoned them for the match when he didn't show up to cheer from the sidelines like Jelly did when he wasn't fighting. Although he did laugh when Jelly nearly snapped Gaz in half.

As they walked back to their "home base" Blue noticed a large commotion coming from one of the farther ring. One of the largest crowds she had seen all day crowded a far battle ring. Despite their rambunctiousness, she could still hear the announcer energize the ring. "And now! One of the most anticipated fights of the day is upon us!" He cried as the crowd roared in approval. Blue's ears perked up at the exclamation.

"Jelly! Check for our next match! I need to see this!" She exclaimed before rushing off to the fight.

"In the west corner, wearing the lion's crest, our very own hometown heroes... Clan Pridelord!" The over-caffeinated seeq announced, putting a large part of the crowd into a frenzy. The clan stepped onto the field in matching black and red armor and carried an overly professional appearance as non clan members working for them rushed on and off the field to help with last minute preparations. It made Blue feel small time in comparison, but she knew that being in the battles of sixteen warranted this kind of attention. Would they draw such a crowd as this? "In the East corner, hoping for a rematch from their semifinal loss from last year, Clan Entropy!" The Announcer called with slightly less enthusiasm. As they stepped into the ring, a shower of boos fell from the crowd. A dedicated fanbase could be seen clumped on the east end, but it was clear that they were not welcome. Blue got to the fight just in time to see their judges, both magnificent in design and power, cast spells of protection on their respective clans.

Ben walked up behind her "These clans...what are their talents?" he asked "They have power. I can feel it."

"The Pridelords are a group of Templars that have left the order for some reason or another. Nasty bunch really, they were actually close to winning the Camoa Clan Battle Cup last year, but of course Clan Gully pulled it out in the end." Blue recounted, being an avid follower of Clan Gully.

"Gully was never the same after Luso left." Gaz pointed out.

Blue hesitated, but then moved on to the other clan, "Entropy... is as the name suggests. Chaotic, mostly just a bunch of fighters that are as reckless as they are dirty. They've gained a bad reputation among the tournament circuits, so not a lot of people like them." Blue finished just as the battle started. Even early on, it was apparent that they were formidable foes.

Ben's fingers twitched with anticipation "So one group consists of these 'Ban-gah' and another of mismatched fighters?" He asked although it was retorical "And this clan Gully, how much did Luso improve their ranks?"

"Luso was the only reason I watched their fights." Gaz pointed out. "The kid kind of brought everyone together, a lot more than Cid did anyways. They didn't have a sound replacement for him either, I'm always seeing a new face every time. That Strelloc fellow has done a decent job recently, but we'll see how long that lasts before they bring up another kid from their lower ranks." The crowd gasped as one of Entropy's fighters landed a huge blow on his enemy.

"His strange disappearance is exactly why we need to talk to them..." Blue noted, suddenly remembering the entire reason for their entry today.

Ben nodded "It sounds like the Luso I know. He was a bit cocky when we first met him. Our group's leader, Ramza had to distract a herd of behemoths so we could rescue him. He has some amazing talents with a sword. In fact Blue, that icebrand you're weilding is a sword Luso gave to me on our travels."

Blue nodded, analyzing the fight knowing that there was a one in sixteen chance that they would fight one of these clans. It occurred to her that there was also a one in sixteen chance that they would be paired off with Clan Gully as well, which could prove just as disastrous as it would be enlightening. She would like to find out about the grimoire and Ben's sudden appearance in the world, and to find out the secret behind Luso.

"Ohhh! That was a nasty one!" Cried out the announcer as a Pridelord knocked down and finished off his Entropy counterpart. After about ten minutes, the fight boiled down to just two remaining warriors dueling it out. The crowd was as loud as ever as both of the fighters entered the home stretch.

Ben watched with such a ferocity one might think he was in one of those clans. "Blue..." he began "if time would allow I would enjoy sparring with you sometime." He pulled out his sword which was the envy of bazaar owners "I'd enjoy teaching you some of my abilities as well"

Hyri slumped back into hey seat. The battle ring lay out before her, and there was only two men left fighting. Lazily she watched them, trying her best to stay awake. Not that the crowds obnoxious cheers would allow her. "Blue? I though we were going home. I want naps" she complained. Hyri rubbed the sleep from her eyes, and returned to watch the fighting, wanting it to quickly finish. "Naps...".

"Perhaps at another time," replied Blue. After a drawn out sequence of parries, flourishes, and counterattacks, the Entropy soldier made a fatal mistake, easily allowing the Pridelord to seal the fights victory. The crowd roared in excitement, as the announcer quickly shouted the results over them. Hyri, who was nodding off was quickly brought out of her daze.

"Naps..." She muttered after complaining to go home. Blue sighed, feeling like she was babysitting.

"We've got one more fight before the tournament concludes for the day, so no matter if we win or lose, we aren't going home until then." She reminded her, "Honestly, let's hope that it's a win"

Ben nodded at her answer. He watched and saw that the Templar's movements were somewhat predictable. After the round finished he turned around "Who are we fighting next?" he asked.
